In Memory

A short time after my husband Mike Roe died suddenly in August, 2003, the Lord led me to build a retreat house in his memory. The long and sometimes arduous process resulted in closing escrow on a home in Pine, Arizona three years later on the day that would have been our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
Three years before Mike's passing, he and I attended a parent retreat offered by our daughter Sarah's Confirmation program. Mike was not thrilled with going, but he chose to because he knew it would mean a lot to Sarah. The weekend proved to be a memorable and moving spiritual time for both Mike and I. We needed an opportunity to refocus our personal relationships with the Lord, our marriage, and our parenting. Our  priorities can so easily become side-tracked and we veer off in the wrong direction.
On that particular weekend, we were able to focus on our priorities
and connect deeply with the Holy Spirit and our Lord Jesus Christ. We
met people with the same issues, and God blessed that weekend for each
of us individually and for our marriage. In addition, our children and
other people who surrounded us each day benefited from our retreat.

Why the name Breath of Life?

Some people have asked me this question. I watched my late husband as
he struggled for breath in his last moments of life, and the name
Breath of Life seemed perfect to describe the transformation of this
painful memory into something life changing. In memory of Mike, our
daughter Sarah and I are proud to have created an environment where
people can find comfort, beauty, and peace. We offer this retreat
center to adults seeking renewal and refreshment for their everyday
lives.

A Personal Note

After being a widow for five years, God blessed me with a wonderful husband.  Jim and I met on CatholicMatch.com and married five months later on October 18, 2008.
We love serving our retreat guests together and Jim helps me in my studio with orders for my picture framing business and with my Christian calligraphy and art offered at:
